Title: De-Lovely

De-Lovely is a 2004 American/British musical biographical film directed by Irwin Winkler. The screenplay by Jay Cocks is based on the life and career of Cole Porter, from his first meeting with Linda Lee Thomas in 1918 until moments before his death in 1964. I.D.O. Spotlight: Whitney + Nick

How insanely beautiful are these items? I'm going to go out on a limb here and say I think this may just be my favorite aisle runner of the year. I'm crazy in love with the way it turned out. Bride Whitney provided us with the verse and we put it in the font of her choice and added one of our monograms (21D) underneath... L.O.V.E. She also ordered a matching thank you parasol, and two verse banners (one standard size and one large) all in the same font and color as the verse so everything coordinates perfectly. Best wishes to Whitney & Nick who will be married next weekend!

Pwn is a leetspeak slang term, derived from the word "own", that implies domination or humiliation of a rival, used primarily in the Internet gaming culture to taunt an opponent who has just been soundly defeated. Past tense is sometimes spelled pwnt (pronounced with a t sound), pwned, pwnd, pwn3d, or powned (with the standard d sound). Examples include "pwnage" or "you just got pwned".

In Internet security jargon, to "pwn" means "to compromise" or "to control", specifically another computer (server or PC), web site, gateway device, or application; it is synonymous with one of the definitions of hacking or cracking. An outside party who has "owned" or "pwned" a system has obtained unauthorized administrative control of the system.

The word "pwn" may have arisen and spread as a common typo of the word "own," since the 'p' and 'o' keys are adjacent on a standard English keyboard.

Given the recent development of the word and its primary usein written form only, there is no single accepted pronunciation of pwn. However, "own", "pawn", "poon" (compare cwm) and "pone" are frequently used, and "pwen" is also considered an acceptable pronunciation although "pone" is the most common pronunciation.

According to the staff at the popular company Pure Pwnage (a company that creates popular online videos like FPS Doug), the word "pwnage" or "pwn" is pronounced like the word's predecessor "own." The reason for this is because it is simply a typo and really has no origin other than in online text.

Inglorious Basterds

Quentin, I really, really love you.

I know that whatever the genre or storyline you choose, I'm going to be supremely entertained from the opening scene to the final credits. You can make a dark subject pretty darn funny and fulfilling.

Inglorious Basterds was just such a movie. Really graphic violence that included scalping, skin carving, baseball bat beating, and swiss-cheese bullet-holing was actually really necessary for the ultimate Nazi-killing escapade. Entire families being likened to "rats" and being exterminated as such was crucial to the awesome payback at the end of the movie. Women were strong and vengeful, even if they had to show their painted toes...we all are quite aware of Quentin's foot fetish by now, right?

Now, this movie was not the oeuvre everyone was saying it would be...I mean, Pulp Fiction can only happen once. But this was a really fun, straightforward story about really sticking it to the bad guy...and sometimes, that's really all you need.

She's Ready for her Close-Up, The Top anyway

I finshed my quilt top last week but haven't had time to post the pictures until tonight. I am really pleased when how it turned out. Tomorrow I am planning on stopping by the quilt store to get the backing and the batting. Hopefully I can find someone to sew it together for me by the 15th so it will be done in time for the baby shower.
