Board #26: Creamsicle

por | | 0 comments

After such a warm weekend, I had to start the week with a warm board. I think some people are intimidate by the color orange, which is too bad because it is so energetic and just plain fun. And, mixed with cream, it can be incredibly elegant. I think this would be perfect for a late summer/early fall wedding.

Mood: bright, cheery
Palette: orange, cream

{click to enlarge}
Board #26: Creamsicle
Top row from left: "origami" guest book and bouquet both from MS, photo via {frolic}, citrus centerpiece from Brides
Row 2: invitation from The Knot, tulip cascade from Brides, blood orange cheesecake from MS, hard candy
Row 3: photo from Brides, Sharon Cunningham dress from Brides UK, garden hat via Faye and Greer, Creamsicle
Row 4: Prestat chocolate from Arena Flowers, striped ribbon from Ribbons Galore, carnelian necklace from JH Terry Gallery, paper hurricanes from MS

Update! Go see this post at Toast and Tables for more orange inspiration.

Real Wedding: Kelly + Paul

Real Wedding: Kelly + Paul
Real Wedding: Kelly + PaulPhotos by Eleise Theuer Photography

Kelly & Paul had a soft, romantic color pallet and incorporated their monogram throughout, starting with their yummy letterpress invitations that I'm completely smitten with, using just the couples first initials. Their initials resurfaced on the ceremony doors, and their married monogram was subtly displayed on the beautiful cake. Kelly also had a monogram dress tag for her gorgeous gown using her pre-married monogram. These are all great examples of the different ways you can incorporate many different versions of monograms throughout the wedding. The couples incredible florals were created by Janie Medley of JM Flora, and their fabulous day was captured by Eleise Theuer Photography.

Title: Molly Picon in The Wedding Scene from Yidl Mitn Fidl 1936 Yiddish film

from the 1936 Yiddish film YIDL MITN FIDL.
This was filmed once again in Kazimierz, Poland, using local inhabitants as extras. It took over thirty consecutive hours to film, and the food had to be kosher of course as the locals used were all Orthodox Jews. As the filming went on, they ate, and for the successive shots of the table the food had to be replenished. The poverty stricken guests just couldn't understand what was happening, as they thought they had been invited to a real wedding. When one woman asked why so much food they explained that it wasn't a real wedding - only a film. It is possible she had never seen a film, for she said: "Why didn't you tell me that before? With so much food, I could have brought my daughter to get married for real. She has a chassen (bridegroom) but we have no money for a dowry to make a proper wedding." Molly suspected her husband (Jacob Kalich) may have given the woman the money, as later she smiled at Picon and said "Are you lucky to have such a rich husband."
It's a sobering thought to think what would have happened to these people only a few short years later.
